Hi Dave,

That would be fantastic - would love to get in touch with them.

Hi Craig,

Yes there are some big users of Powerproject in WA. I don’t think they are active on PP.

I’ll email you some more details off line.

Kind Regards,

Dave.

Hi,

Am currently working with Asta here in WA and seem to be the only person who is - no one has heard of Asta.

Is there anyone else in WA who is working with Asta?

Great news, thanks for posting that Paul. Its 7.30 am and I am about to start another Powerproject training course so what can I put in for today’s tip of the day.

Following on from Paul’s theme, if you are a Primavera user and have recently moved to Powerproject, did you know that you can sort your project using Code Libraries to create a view which is almost identical to the Activity Code Organise function in P3.

All you have to do is make sure that your Sort Order numbering for the code library is correctly numbered in the Library Explorer and then go to View - Sort - New to create a sort based on that menu.

Be careful to select ’display on menu’ and also make sure all of your sort selections are set to task rather than bar.

If you would like more information on this, send me a private message and I will email you back a PowerPoint presentation with more details of this.

Happy planning!

There are a couple of technical articles I have written on Asta Powerproject on my web site under Technical articles.

One is titled "Asta Power Project - an introduction" - This document is designed to assist people who are using SureTrak, P3, Primavera Enterprise or Microsoft Project to learn the basics of PowerProject to create an unresourced schedule.

The other is titled "Asta Power Project to Primavera Version 5.0 Import and Export" - Some notes written by Paul E Harris on the process of exporting schedules from Asta PowerProject to Primavera Version 5.0

Graham,

Is there a free on-line demo that I can direct my clients towards. I love Powerproject, I find it as easy to use as MSP but with heaps more P3 like features (the best of both worlds). I need my clients to try it out for themselves as they don’t know what they’re missing until they can see it for themselves.

So to get the ball rolling, here is a little trick to help you reassign resources in Powerproject or Teamplan.

1. To start with to to the View Menu, Select Tool Bars and Make sure your resource modelling tool bar is switched on.

2. Next drag the tool bar up to your main tool bar and it will fit itself in snuggly there.

3. If you have named individuals working on tasks, go to Format Bar Chart and make sure the Scheduled Allocations are switched on.

4. Click on the allocation bar on the bar chart and you will see the person’s name appear in the Resource modelling tool bar.

5. Click on the drop down to the right hand side of the name and you will see a list populated with all of the other people within the same team who are available.

Right that should get you all thinking!

Regards

Graham
