-If that happens again shutdown all users that are using programme and restart. Maybe you will need to shutdown from task manager.
-If available go for vista 64 (ultimum) . I have a 32 home. I can run every programme (P3, P6, Office, CAD ....) but it is a pin in the ass as it is stopping response once in a day.
