You said that do a backup. Can you said how you do this backup? Is a export? XML, XER or other? How Export Type? Projet; Resource Only or Role Only? How many projets in the same time? And for which drive?
Before moving on to the ultimate solution for the computer problems by formatting, try treating your system first with the latest available anti-virus. Somehow, it may help and solve your problem.
Ron, the project I am trying to restore is in the P3WIN/PROJECTS directory.
I was told by our IT people that there could have been a conflict between P3 and some program I installed; but since I reisntalled P3, it seems that a Windows file that P3 uses could have been damaged, but there is no way of finding which file it is. The only solution they are suggesting is to format the computer; I am trying to avoid this surgical intervention.
Can you come up with other ideas?
Regards,
Joe

P3 cannot address schedules that are deeply buried in your directory structure. Make sure that the new computer does not store your schedules with a full path name greater than 64 characters (including file name.) If so, move them higher. Good luck!

Thank you.
My computer is continuously updated with the latest anti-virus. I am quite sure the problem is not emanating from a virus.

Hello Joe,
There are several reasons why this error may occur.
1. If restoring over an existing project, run PFXW on the existing project. But you say it didnt work!!
2. Restore project to another directory. If this works, then copy the project files in Explorer to the correct location.
3. Copy the project file from the disk to a new directory on the hard drive. Restore the project from the backup copy on the hard drive.
4. Replace the PRBACKUP.EXE file using Setup Utility.
5. Open Task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and check for possible conflicting programs. Close any programs not in use and unload all programs not in use.
Hopefuly it could help.

If you got Targets, make sure you include the targets during the back-up.
If using pen drive, once back-up is done, try to restore it first in the same pen drive before putting it in other PCs.
