Resourcing issue in P5

1. You don’t assign named resource, you assign the activity with Electrician or Boilermarker

2. Then the supervisor assign the availiable named resource - of course your capacity line (availiability) should within the rostered staff.

3. myPrimavera - is the web platform which is very useful in this situation, because the supervisor can find the availiable resource and assigning them to the activities. In addition, the supervisor can also see whether the resource is on/off with their FIFO schedule

Good Luck

Thanks Alex for the reply, just need some further clarificaiton:

1. I need to specifically assign each specific person in every task?? But the problem is in reality these person rotate so a generic role (Electrician or Boilermaker) is actually doing the said task. At the end of the day a role of electrician or boilermaker actualy did that task.

2. Where to locate "myPrimavera"?

Alex,

maybe I don’t know P5 well enough but I did not understand your proposal.

You suggested to assign individual resource. Please clarify - assign where?

I don’t understand what do you mean by assigning the resource to the role. Shall role be assigned?

I hope that you remember that this task can be easily solved in Spider Project and I am interested to learn how to do this in P5/P6 if it is possible.

Hi

Suggestion is

Use - Individual Named resource with two role Electricians and Boilermaer

Assign all your activities according to the contract milestone with breakdown to details

Assign individual resource with its own calendar

Assign the resource to the role in a 4 weeks lookahead using myPrimavera

Update the timesheet individually, either use a clerk or ask the individual doing it in Primavera Timesheet.

Good Luck

Alex
