DATA DATE FOR P3

Hi Charan

The data date is the start of the planning period - i.e. a part of it. If you’ll report until Feb 29, the data date will be March 1st.

Thanks for reply. But I am using planning units as hours not days.

As I am using planning units as hours then I used data date as closing of the business day i,e 29th Feb 17.00 Hours.

If you want to show progress till 29th Feb. data date should be the next day, i.e. 01 March, otherwise progress on Feb 29 won’t be considered by P3. P3 calculates progress at the beginning of the data date and not at the end (assuming ’day’ as the planning unit.)

I suspect, for monthly progress, that it’s more a matter of presentation than accuracy whether you set the data date as the evening of the last day or the morning of the first day of the month.

As a general rule, the data date should be the date that the progress data you are entering is valid for. If you are producing an end of month report then you probably have collected the data a week beforehand. Thus your data date should be something like the 22nd Feb or you need to add an estimate of one week’s progress to the progress data you have in hand.

If the progress data you have in hand is correct up to 5pm on 29th Feb, then yes, that should be your data date. This is what I would set it as, unless specifically told otherwise.

Do you have a plan which is scheduled in hours but is only being reoprted once a month?
