Activity Codes

Hi Dieter & Milton.

Thanks, it worked!

Unchecking the "secure tick box" enables P5 file to be copy/paste without losing the activity codes.

More Power and regards.

Hi Juan

I just checked and found the same. So secure activity codes are excludes when you use Copy-command.

You can access it by: Enterprise --> Activity Codes --> select "Global" --> button "Modify" --> switch off "secure-code" box for this code.

Hi Milton,

Thanks for your reply.

However, how would I know my activity codes are secure? (Where could I find the "secure tick box"?)

I’m using Primavera Project Mgt Release 5.

Morning Juan,

I discovered that I had activated the "Secure Code" in some of my Area Codes, and when we do that non of the codes within the specific project copy or export. I removed the tick in the "Secure Code" box and bingo, All ok.

Thanks for getting in touch.

You may want to check your codes to se that non of them are selected as "Secure".

Cheers,

Milton.

Yes I tried XER and the codes are missing.

As an alternative solution,

How can I use Global Change to restore the Activity Codes in my latest Project File? I mean, the latest file has been already updated (durations and relationships) except the Activity Codes which I need to restore. The original file which has Activity Codes is still available.

Hi Juan

Sorry, I never had this situation.

Just for check: Did you try to export this project to an XER-file? Then open XER with an editor and check if the code-assignments are still there.

If not, IT should check the database - MS-SQL?

Good luck

Hi Dieter,

I’d say, GLOBAL activity codes.

Thanks so much for your time.

Hi Juan

Which type of activity codes: Global, EPS (not copied in P5), or Project?

I am in the same situation.

I’m using Primavera 5.0 SP1. I lost the assigned activity codes, when I copied a project and paste it to a different EPS. Previously the procedure works OK (the codes are still there), but recently i noticed that my copies (i copy project to create back-ups) don’t have the previously assigned activity codes. I had made sure that I’ve checked the "include activity codes" in the dialog box during the copy/paste action.

1. How shall I copy a project and retain assigned codes?

2. How shall I retain activity codes to the back-up files?

THanks for the help.

Cheers!

Hi Milton

This is P3e - not P3. When you copy an activity, I know two chances to loose a code:

1. After you click on "paste", a window will appear where you can mark, which items to be copied as well.

2. You grouped by a code. Then you paste into an area where no code is assigned.

Projects: In P5 EPS-activity-codes are not copied together with the project - solved in P6.
