You confusion as to Primavera software names is understandable. It seems to me that Primavera did this intentionally. Perhaps I can quickly explain.
P3 is a scheduling software package that was introduced in 1984 and was semi-retired in 2003 at Version 3.1. Primavera still sells this but will no longer revise or fix any problems with it.
P6 is an entirely different software product sold by Primavera. It is not an upgrade to P3. It has nothing to do with P3.
P6 began with Version 1 in 1999 and introduced Version 5 in 2005. Version 6 was just released in August 2007. With every new version, Primavera gave it a new name so people started calling it P(Version Number) simply to keep their sanity. In other words, P5 is Version 5 and P6 is Version 6.
Other than a new database platform for stand-alone installations (which you will never actually see,) there is very little difference between P5 and P6. As P6 is the current version, you should not be able to find a class for P5, only for P6. Anyone who only teaches you how to run last year’s version of a software package is clearly not teaching a professional class.
I hope that this explanation helps. Good luck!
