What I was suggesting was that if you have reduced the duration by way of placing the activity on a different calender then the calender change can effect lags aswell.
If you adjusted the duration by changing the actual entry in the Original and Remaining Duration fields, then lags should not be effected.
Otherwise, could you have changed a calender by accident?
SOP is to follow the path of zero lag back through the plan from completion back to your current DD, you will probably find that a constraint has been set or calender changed, or even a duration shanged by accident. If he plan is well structured this shouldnt be *too* hard.

I mean to say ..that we have reduced the duration of the first activity on critical path ..n yet we have noticed that proj .Comp. date is pushed forward.

One idea; if you have any negative lags in your plan and you have crashed the critical path activities by changing them to a double shift (for example) then the overall length of the negative lag could shorten also because the calender on which the negative lag is calculated can change, following its parent activity.
