I do not know of any specific books on site logistics, but I am sure there are many in the market. YOu can always search the internet. Google is a good search engine.

Site Logistics Planning - Pointers.
1st - you need to plan the shortest possible route.
2nd - Make sure that egress and ingress to site is well define
3rd - Make sure that double handling of materials is minimized.
4th - How far can you delay the access area without affecting the completion date.
5th - Plan for alternative route as the project progress.
6th - Prepare a programme / schedule for delivery of materials to avoid bottlenecks and clashes on site.
I am sure there are more pointers to consider that I have not covered, worth reading some materials on site logistics.
