I see 3 types of software used to track correcpondance in the engineering area:
1. Inhouse developed databases which are slowly being replaced by shrink wrapped packages.
2. Dedicated document management software such as QDMS or Client which are both written in Oz.
3. Project management software like Expedition, Prism, Prolog etc which include Document Management as one of the modules.
I specialise in helping companise select software and manitain a database of approximately 200 project management software packages. Give me a call if you would like to discuss subject a bit more.
Expedition from Primavera will do the job perfectly.
Howeever it is costly
In addition, if you are using its planning tool ie P3e or P3e/c / teamplay you can link them up with your schedule. Then you doc monitoring will become very eff.
