link excel to p3

Rick,

I would use Ra or Import as these methods will automatically use the autocost rules when updating any field.

ODBC ignores the autocost rules so you would have to duplicate the impact on the P3 data in your macro/program for each field updated.

Rick,

You can also link excel to P3 with the help of pervasive ODBC drivers. Download the pervasive ODBC drivers and then you can create a database query in excel or MS Access.

It is far better / easy than using import / export tool in P3. Can check good articles about this on paul harris website http://www.eh.com.au

Hi Rick,

There are so many thread in this forum that answer your query. Yes you can used RA Excel utility to update your progress in P3. You can find RA Excel utility on P3CD installation disk under RA util subfolder. It contains Activity.xls, Project.xls, Spread.xls..etc...

You can also used import/ export module to update P3 using excel.

Hope this help.

Hello Rick,

My opinion is that you should better work directly in P3, and then export if necessary to excel.

I think it is a shame having such a tool and working on excel in parrallele sothat you do the progress update twice.
