Non-working weekend display

Alternatively Laurie you could go to one of the Powerproject User Group meetings. The new season is about to start, they are free if you are a registered user, and there is awlays a chance to ask expert users (uncluding Asta representatives) the answer to all those niggling problems.

(sorry A F-B, don’t mean to do you out of any business!)

Laurie,

if you need a training on PP8 / PP9, just ask; I am only one Eurostar away from London.

Alexandre,

Thanks so much that works! Use a folding calendar for the view and a different calendar for applying to tasks. You cannot believe how long that has stumped me for!

Laurie,

No! Check that the tasks are being assigned a 5 day a week calendar: right-click on the bar, open Properties, display Task, make sure Calendar is properly set.

In my project, I have a 15 day task starting Feb 01, 2006 and ending Feb 21; it makes well 15 days.

To mark week-ends on the bar chart, right-click on a empty space in the bar chart, open Properties, display Non Work, check Week-end in the Categories, check what you want in "Draw ..." (2nd frame on the left).

Hi again,

OK, I’ve followed you this time. The days are same widths apart, but now tasks are scheduled to be worked on over the weekend, which should not be the case.

Laurie,

(remember I use PP8 in French),

1. right-click the Date Zone and open the Properties diallog box

2. Select the new calendar in the drop-down list,

3. In the Type box, set up the lowest level as "Day"

4. In Day/Scale (2nd tab from left), set the week start as Monday and the week finish as Sunday, then close the dialog box

5. Move the mouse over the Date Zone and stretch until you can see the 7 days of the week.

If necessary, send a PM with your mail address, I’ll answer with a copy of my file.

Hi Alexandre,

Thanks for your reply. However, I’m not sure I understand the 2nd step! Is this after I have created the Calendar? Which dialog box do I set this in?

Thanks, Laurie

Laurie,

I guess your problem is that folding calendars in Date Zone are used to display a specific time period in a specific scale.

Try as follows (I am working with PP8 French):

1. In the Library, create a new calendar opened 7 day a week (do not change the "working hours", as it would disable the "Next" button

2. Assign this calendar to the Date Zone, set the bottom row as "Day" in the General tab (1st one on the left); in the 2nd tab, set the 1st day of the week Monday and the last of the week Sunday

3. Click Close, and stretch the Date Zone on the screen until you see the 7 days of the week.

All the best,

Alexandre
