PP v9

Progress expert files can be moved to any folder even when you are well into the reports. Move the baselines, main PP file and the excel report file - do not move any other files.

You need to tell the main file where the baselines are - it will ask this when you attempt to open one. When the PE macro is re run from the new location you need to redirect it to the existing excel report file.

The system will then create a new PET file that will store the new settings.

Done this loads of times - backups give you a warm feeling of securit though!

Can’t Imagine 20 Bovis planners shouting at you Richard!

Anyway isnt it part of standing orders to produce the 2 weekly programme reschedule!!

Thanks for lead Richard, I had heard of this Progress Expert but was not to sure where to obtain from. Tried it this morning which took about 3hrs. If you are familar with progressing and baselines then it should not take any longer.

If anybody is down loading contents of the zip file, makesure you are down loading the individual files into the ’addins’ folder and not a sub-folder. I made this mistake earlier and had diffulties trying to get the macro folder in the toolbar commands to appear.

Good luck, it is worth the try.

Richard, thanks for that, it sounds interesting

one day i will get to trial it (when i get some spare time), as i agree with you, i think it will be useful as support information in our progress reports

I also understand that 9.02 provides an easy function to run an s-curve report.

Have not updated my software from 8 to 9 yet, but went to a course at Asta’s offices last week on s-curves and was told these are now easy to produce using 9.02

would be interested to know if anyone is using this as a reporting technique and what they think of it !

Hi Mike,

I have made lot’s of customer updates (over 50) from V8 to V9 and until now I found no technical issues or converting failtures. All functions from V8 still works in the same way as V9 (exept 1 or 2 resource calculation behaviours with progress, not critical).

Inproved facility to report actual start and finish dates.

New progress % complete field not linked to remaining duration.

After the weeks of fanfare and dramatic drumroll, i am considerably underwhelmed. Have been using it for 3 days and as far as I can see, the main change is smaller font in the project view and a button to access it quicker.

Have never really needed to put multiple tasks on the same line.

Been using it for the last 2-3 weeks

Really like the ability to show multiple task information on the spreadsheet when you have a number of tasks on same line.

Cheers
