probably a typo there.

I ment to say that when you have the resources loaded you may want to filter them. (like wanting to get a list of all the activities that use a certain type of crane).

format/filter/

RES CN CR_

(read this as RESOURCE CONTAINS CR_

willgive you the activities that have the cranes loaded.

provided you have named all crane resources in concordance with CR_blah .

for example CR_20t & CR_450t will show in the filter.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply ... but how could i do this

"("RES CN eq_" gets you all the equipment loaded activities for example)."

Sounds interesting.

Dexter.

for a newbie and a pro alike this is the community that you will find most helpfull (though sometimes it takes time).

P3 is not a user friendly program that is for sure. so dont despair.

what I usually use for resourcing names is something like this.

md_blahblah for mandays.

mh_blahblah for manhours.

eq_blah for equipmint. ;)

and so forth.

this helps when you need to do some filtering ("RES CN eq_" gets you all the equipment loaded activities for example).

some do it another way. whatever you feel comfortable with.

try being systematic but dont kill yourself if it does not sort out like you wanted. forget writing 28 letter names as P3 has mostly a 10 character limit on anything (always check max string length and remember on the long run using all available length is easier. "md_0000000 backtab 1 enter" is easier than entering md_00001. that could easily be, when you are tired, md_0001 or md_000001 and you may not see it for hours even days). always remember that P3 was written sometime around windows v3.1 ;) its a 16 bit program. and more stubborn than you. :P

eq_cran001 for crane type 1. ???

md_labr021 guess what??

tm_elec001 electrical team.

whatever.

Hello,

You can do it without mixing them.

just call a suggestive name and create a cost account for such equipments/tools.

later on you can use this cost account category to filter it (as well as by ressource name dont forget).
