Not much you can do. There once was a server-side component you could buy for btrieve format files, but thats long gone from the store shelves.
My choice in heavy duty LAN environments is to put the P3WORK directory on the local hard drive, rather than the network drive. This usually helps a little. All you lose by doing this is a shared FRAGNET project, i.e. everyone has their own list of fragnet components rather than a common pool. Its worth it.
