Site Cost and Planning System Manager (SCAPS)

1988-1990     Working on the Mossgas Refinery Project in Mossel Bay, South Africa. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Davy SCAPS system. Ensuring the integrity of the data and the training of local personnel in the use of the system. System developed in house in London office before being transferred to Johannesburg and eventually to Mossel Bay site. The system utilised the Artemis 6000 (v 6.6.2) software package to produce menu driven input/output cost & planning formats, using quantitative AFC drawings take off as the core. Outputs included both listings and management graphics.

1987-1988     Artemis System Control Manager. Working on the BP A5 Acetyl’s Expansion project in Hull. Reporting to the Site Controls Manager and responsible for monitoring and reporting planning and progress information for management, including overall control and maintenance of an arrow computerised network comprising of some 5000 activities.

Duties included the development & maintenance of progress datasets on Artemis, the production of network generated graphics and the management of the construction team’s communications links to London.

Providing Artemis Networking expertise to the site planning team and performing special exercises in the analysis of contractor’s progress reporting, material control, and the provision of commissioning related information to commissioning system turn over. The above formed the basis of Davy’s in house SCAPS system developed in London.

1986-1987     Senior Cost/Planning Engineer. Working on the Norsk Hydro Fertiliser Plant, Immingham. Responsible to the Resident Construction Manager for detailed analysis of costs for some 30 contractors during the construction and hand over to commissioning phases of the project. Logging and monitoring of Site Instructions utilising the Artemis 6000 software system. Updating construction logic arrow network with progress and logic reviews.
