British Petroleum (BP) Senior Planner

Based in the turnaround planning department at Bp oil Refinery working for Bp’s Turnaround Manager, my duties where the planning of all turnarounds especially the HF Alkylation Unit including swoop downs on single units. This includes thoroughly going through all unit P&ID’s with operations and PIS to understand how the unit works and where isolating points will be placed. The ordering of all long lead items i.e. special valves, new vessels, new piping spools, materials for internals of towers and vessels is a an important task within my job and gaining quotes for such items, assisting in design reviews for unit equipment to be replaced or modified and developing a detailed plan into work packs.

My role requires me to attend reliability and maintenance meetings for all of the refinery units to plan any work needed by operations, maintenance and inspection departments which needs to be captured into the turnarounds.

I get involved in setting out all budgets for shutdowns and labour requirements including the safety and welfare for people involved to BP standard including risk management and management integrity. I also go on regular weekly site visits to observe people at work and to talk about ways to improve safety.

I use Primavera (P5/P6) to schedule all work on the turnarounds/swoop downs including intergrating Project Plans and schedules into a master schedule.
