Various FEED and Detailed Design Engineering projects in chemicals and petroleum, mining industries for following companies: Petro-Canada Edmonton Refinery, Teck Coal Corporation, AT Plastics Inc., DOW Chemicals, TransAlta Utilities Corporation, Agrium, Prairie Mines & Royalty Ltd., and Bird Construction.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and produce required accounting and project cost reports
- Initialize budgetary control system and documentation for the project or task force assignment
- Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports and monitoring cost and commitment to budget and forecast
- Prepare reports on deviations, under-runs and over-runs
- Carry out the necessary research and assembling all information regarding the cost situation
- Maintain change control and the change order register as well as cost reports, change register, contract and bulleting register
- Determine the selection of work procedures and make recommendation for improvements
- Provide the manager with timely accounting and cost control reports
- Participate in the establishment of the project coding in collaboration with estimating and planning
- Compile information supplied by estimating, procurement, construction, planning and engineering for cost projections
- Planning work within man-hour budgets and schedule
- Analyse of data to establish the difference in an initial estimate as compared to the final project cost
- Research cost and productivity trends
- Evaluate scope changes and contract values
- Prepare detailed engineering and construction schedules for project proposals and projects in process
- Maintain schedules on a current base
- Prepare reports to management regarding project scheduling activities
- Ensure the maintenance of all records and reports
- Maintain liaison with project management regarding activities and assisting them in determining scheduling priorities
