Primavera

I was working on the Indeni Phase 2 Project. I was part of a core team of individuals that was head office based, but I had moved to site in Zambia to have a hands-on approach of monitoring progress on a daily basis. This project was multi disciplinary, consisting of design, procurement, fabrication and erection of piping, civil works, structural steel fabrication and erection, electrical and instrumentation erection, as well as close-outs, in the petrochemical industry.

I was working for Sasol Technology on various projects. I was part of a core team of individuals that specializes in Project Management. These projects are multi disciplinary, consisting of idea packaging, pre-feasibility, feasibility, basic development, execution; which include the following -  fabrication and erection of piping, civil works, structural steel fabrication and erection, electrical and instrumentation erection, as well as start up and evaluation/start-up, according to the Sasol Business Development & Implementation Model, in the petrochemical industry.

Currently, I am working for BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa on the DMO projects. I am part of a core team of individuals that specializes in Project Management. This project is multi phased, consisting of basic design, detail design, procurement, fabrication, execution and commissioning. The execution is also multi disciplined, which include the following - earthworks, civils, buildings, structural steel, piping, mechanicals, electrical and instrumentation erection, as well as commissioning and ramp-up, in the coal mining industry.

• Preparation of tender programs, Master Schedule including Milestones, critical path networks and resource histograms, Cash Flow projections and Budget.
• Preparation of Construction Programme for Highways, Building Projects as per WBS.
• Working out Actual Qty’s as per the Cross sectional details given in the drawings.
• Preparation of Weekly/ Monthly work programmes.

Planning of a township comprises of 29 residential buildings of 37 storey,

progress tracking, resourse & cost analysis, risk management.

I am a certified Electrical Engineer and worked as an Electrical Engineer, a Project Controls engineer and also assisted the project manager on many occasions. I haven't really had much planning and scheduling experience since I do not know how to allocate resources and schedule activities accurately. I want to become a planner / scheduler, but I do not know how to. I am hoping to get some information and probably any reference information from here.
