Current Role
Opportunity arose to be "Re-trained" as a project planner. following several years working as an Instrument Technician and Systems Engineer(C&I) in the Nuclear Industry. Formation of the NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Authority) meant that the sites now had to submit Lifetime plans. I was part of the initial team that were tasked with this undertaking.
Applied for and gained a position as a Project Controls Engineer/Planning Manager internally with Magnox Electric Limited, focusing mainly on cost and Schedule delivery to earn fee for our Operating Company and participating in a portfollio management system covering six sites and with an anual budget of circa £330M. Earned value analysis; covering aspects including but not exclusively, such as Cirical Path Analysis, Estimate at Complete, Cost Performance Index, Schedule Performance Index, Schedule Variance Cost Varience and Baseline Change Proposal preparation.
Folowing on from my successful transition into Lifetime plan creation, I was given the chance to help develop the department and mentor/train individuals that had chosen to beat the same path. following a recruitment drive we selected three candidates to train internally in an attempt to reduce the long term reliance on 3rd party support. the next year was spent teaching and mentoring the recruits in the use of software packages (Primavera and MSP) and basic principles of planning, cost estimating resource loading and levelling.
