Project Manager vs Scheduler - who to do what?

Who should take the initiative of ensuring there is a proper schedule in a project, is it a scheduler or a project manager?

Who should provide information that needs to be fed in a schedule, is it the PM or the scheduler through reading all project documentation (scope, timelines - whichare normally overall etc.) in a project and preparing a schedule?

Project management software recommendation?

Now that our team at SFSU is getting bigger and starting to handle some longer term projects such as integration with Diva (http://diva.sfsu.edu/), Drupal, and/or e-Portfolio system and so on. We really need to have a good project management software solution to help us keep track of all projects. I wonder whether the Moodle core dev team (or your own dev team) is using any project management software at all, and if so, which software you are using?

Constructive [overtime] acceleration - Opinions?

A
Aidan Kelly 👤 Member for 15 years 1 month

Hi All

A topic im sure has been discussed many times before but as new judgments are provided in court and the industry evoles maybe opinions/outlooks change.

In terms of constructive accleration such as performing overtime without an official request from the client to mitigate delays [both excuseable and not] , what are your thoughts in relation to cliaming for these costs?

Assume lump sum contract model and a Shut-down milestone in contract. The Shut down having an influence on the scenario as  a Company would have to plan their shutdowns 'down to a

Who is the Owner of Cost Account Codes?

Hi to All,

Who is the Owner of Cost Account Codes?

Which department in the company shall be responsible to prepare the Company's Standard Cost Account Codes?

And If in case a new items are introduced, in which these items are not included in the existing Company's Cost Account Codes, which department have the responsibility to add the new Cost Account Code for these new items?

My opinion to this is... The Cost Control DEpartment is the Owner of Cost Account Codes and shall be responsible to add new Cost Account Codes as necessitates.

Substantial Completion Issues

D
D Artagnan 👤 Member for 17 years 8 months

Our project is actually delayed and it's due to the client. The client acknowledges the delay (for a lot of reasons), thus agreed to give the contractor a time extension (Time B). However, the developer where the client has a contract with to finish the project on (Time A) is not willing to give the time extension to our client. Our client cannot do anything but pay the LD from Time A to Time B.
