Wouldn't it be better if Engineering &/or Program Managers JUST GAVE THEIR P6 Schedule to the contractors?

Wouldn't it be better if Engineering &/or Program Managers JUST GAVE THEIR P6 Schedule to the contractors?  It is a huge waste of time to make the contractor "re-invent" the wheel.  There is usually only 1 way to build these jobs and the contractor is welcome to change it - but wouldn't the project be better off if the same time was spent fine-tuning and what-ifing etc that barely making it over the same finish line a 2nd time.  You can require a certain amount of changes etc and make the sign a waiver that it is their means and methods etc.  What is the downside?&nb

?Scannable construction form for OCR like for T&M and Unit Price Tracking or just best form source?

Scannable construction form for OCR like for T&M and Unit Price Tracking or just best form source?

Do you know of anything like this or cool forms heading that way, or tried and true?

I think we are at the edge of this but I have not seen it yet.

Project Progress S-curve Analysis

E
Ellie G 👤 Member for 13 years 3 months

Hi All,

I am putting together a project S-curve analysis presentation for project managers and I am looking for a reliable source that can provide a comprehensive  scurve analysis practice, specifically Early and Late data S-curve with actual progress.

an analysis the indicate if the project is in a good standing or not, what is the likelihood of delay if actual curve falls very close to late curve, etc...

I highly appreciate it if anyone provides me a document, link, etc to this sort of project analysis for project managers.

Thanks in advance

Units of work

The fundamental formula for work is:

Work  = duration    x    number of assigned units to the task

So, for example:

Work = 5 days x 3 men = 15 man hours

So work is expressed as man hours (or equipment hours).... is that correct ? Or not?

I ask because in MS project it writes work as hours... not man hours....  that is why I am confused..... which one is correct?

Are GC and contingeency included in EVA?

Hello,

Are general conditions (setup jobste trailer etc...) and contingency included in EVA calculations? I know it is not deliverable but how about the total project budget? I mean I look at the famous S-Curve for EVA , see no GC or continegncy anywhere, but at the same time I know that GC and contingency are part of the total project budget. So how does it work?

Approved vs Received for Record vs other terminology

Approved vs Received for Record , what is the difference?  which do you see / use more? what else do you see.  I have been on both ends of it.  Probably the one that I have seen and also use the most is Approved as Noted - because there are so many variables that people find some to critique, in fact they feel like they are not doing there job if they don't find something to tell you to change.  (work was almost more efficient in the age of the typewriter - because nobody wanted to change things as much, a lot more work.)

How good is your country at reporting covid-19 statistics - it is a mess.

I do not believe Covid 19 could be tacked effectiviely if your country statistics are poor.

Image removed.

Such numbers are misleading, 100% positivity rate!

Whoever publishes some numbers without having the necessary information loses credibility.  It is simple if you are incapable of getting the necessary information do not publish any number.

I wonder if the reporting in your countries is this bad.
