Comprising of 5 new-build office blocks, this M&E contract for Sir Robert McAlpine saw Matthew assisting the Senior Planning Engineer with the planning and reporting of progress and productivity of in-house and sub-contract labour.
With 7½ years experience in the construction industry, Matthew has gained a strong understanding of M&E planning across a variety of sectors. Starting with Bailey Rail in 2006, Matthew learnt to deal with the types of challenges synonymous with high security environments. Moving onto Bailey Building Services in 2007, he was able to broaden his scope whist working within the commercial and education sectors before utilising his experience on a high-profile Central London project combining both rail and commercial environments.
A large office new-build on the north bank of the Thames in London, Matthew’s role was to assist the Senior Planning Engineer in the day-to-day management of the M&E programme. Using Asta Powerproject, Matthew’s duties would include marking up installation drawings, updating and inputting progress into Asta Powerproject, analysing critical paths and producing short-term lookaheads along with the Engineering team.
Under the UK Government's 'Building Schools for the Future' scheme, NGB were appointed to provide the mechanical and electrical services for various schools across London. Managing the programmes utilising Asta Powerproject, Matthew was responsible for monitoring and reporting progress and productivity for schools in Catford, Sedgehill, Greenford and Stoke Newington.
Contracted to Vinci, this high profile project for Network Rail utilised both Matthew’s experience in the Rail sector and in recent projects for the Building Services division of NGB. A large new-build concourse plus the refurbishment of the existing train shed and operational buildings presented challenging works around a National Heritage site and one of the busiest live rail stations in the UK. Matthew was a key part of the planning team that prepared and managed a large complex programme that included phased blockades and the migration of live communications equipment.
As Main Contractor on an NEC3 Option C contract, NGB are working alongside BAM Nuttel in order to deliver a large Class One nuclear establishment. Following the successful tendering of the project, Matthew’s role as Senior Planning Engineer has been to build and subsequently manage the 2000+ activity schedule using Primavera P6.
