Yes, in business there are many risk applications using the pseudo random number generator RAND() function. Fram a CPM standpoint, if you had the time you could perform a monte carlo analysis using RAND(). In fact time might not be that big an issue if you wanted to model only select activities.
For all the interested members in such concept (Risk Analysis Tools), Oracle has provide a much a mazing tool to re-plan and achieve a project goals in many meanings whether cost or time since the quality can be contended in project specifications, it called Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis, this tool can be used in conjunction with MSP, P3, P6, and can be loaded easily from officially Oracle website.

thanks for the inputs from those who like and dislike my simple RISK Analysis macro. I didnt plan to make it as an end product. My macro and the code should be viewed as a starter. It should show you how to make a simple simulation out of MS Excel and MS Project.
By the way, sorry I didnt write the manual, since I believe we all can figure out how it works.
iDecide is an award-winning software program for decision and risk analysis. With iDecide you can quickly build influence diagrams describing the risk or decision and then run Monte Carlo simulation. The result is a statistically accurate representation of the range and likelihood of all possible outcomes. In other words, iDecide gives you the power to handle risks and decisions like a professional.
If you really want to do proper Risk analysis where the formulae have been tested and the people who creted it actually know what they are doing try the following URL
