The most important qualifications for a fornesic delay analyst are:
1. Complete understanding of the construction process.
2. Mastery of the programming software.
3. The ability to make complex matters so simple that even a Judge can understand it.
4. A thick skin.
5. A healthy level of incredulity.
Regarding the legal qualifications by all means keep up with eveolving case law. Do this by joining the Society of Construction Law and the Adjudication Society and attend the regular lectures and seminars.
Join the Planning Engineers Organisation.
You can go for a law degree by distance learning but this alone will not get you into the Delay Analysts world.
In your spare time try to simulate the four basic analysis methods using a live project.
Read a few text books.
Learn a few BuzzWords.
When you think you are good enough - do what I did.
I called myself a delay analyst - got the cards printed and put my rates up.
Alternatively you can take any of the jobs advertised in PP for assistant planners in Delay Analysis.
