Earned Hours Calculation

Gidday Raj,

Thanks for your reply to my query. I have found out that each time I alter hours and days in my Projects I have to create another baseline to get rid of the variances.

It’s not the way I like planning, but it’s the way we do things here at present. I plan to change that. Planning for four builds makes for a very busy schedule for One Planner.

I have asked the question of Primavera to verify if the % Complete Type should be "units" rather than duration. I will get back to you.

I have had no formal training in Primavera. I have been using it now for a couple of years and learning all the time.

Cheers,

Milton.

Hi Milton,

The variance could be due to a variety of reasons since you have set activity % complete as duration complete as units %. Now if the original duration was 10 days, and if the at completion duration is going to be 15 days due to some delays, then you might end up with a reduced earned value by 50%. This is my 2 cents. I usually stick to units % complete when resource loading a schedule. Please do drop a line if this is the issue, or if you figured out the problem due to something else. I am interested to know. Thank you.

Cheers,

Raj
