I am stumped also. Normally, I am the guy that everyone goes to when working out conversion issues.
When the sub zipped the files, I still get the same incomplete set of P3 files.
It would help if I had a copy of Suretrak to experiment with.

someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure that Suretrack can save files in "concentric" format. This is directly compatible with P3.1 (it is, in fact, a P3.1 fileset). What you need to do is ask your contractors to save the file in concentric format in Suretrack then send you the schedule folder. you should be able to open it directly in P3.1
As Tom says, PRX is a compressed set of P3 files so P3.1 should be able to open that directly also. If, however, your contractors are not using concentric file format then this is probably why you can’t open them.
Don’t mess with anything containing MP, these are relating to MS Project and you don’t need to. Both Suretrack and P3 were developed by Primavera and they talk to each other well. Suretrack was developed as a single user, somewhat stripped down version of P3 iirc, but it’s file types are fully compatible, so long as you chose to work in "concentric" format in Suretrack, the only constraint being (I think) that you need to chose a 4 letter project name, like in P3, whereas native Suretrac standards support longer filenames.
I used to convert from Suretrack to P3 by PRX format. PRX file means a compressed file, and it can be used for others version of Primavera. Once you extract from Suretrack, u can easily open in P3.

if you ask your subcon quietly, maybe he can *lend* you his copy of Suretrac so you can study and solve the issue.

then I dont get it.
First try asking your subcon to zip the schedule folder (instead of using PRX) or just burn the thing to a CD for you
Otherwise, load up P3.1 on a laptop and get over to your subcons office and work it out face to face with them or get them to come to you.
It should work the way youre doing it at the moment.

not sure then really, sounds like it should work. I suggest asking your subcon to send you the whole folder rather than PRX file.
to ask a silly question; you are using P3.1 not P3e, right?

I am aware of both situation. As stated, I extracted the the .prx file. It was saved in the "concentric format" by the sub contractor.
