Quantity details in Primavera

I like to keep my resource units as manhours whenever possible, otherwise it is difficult to display manhour data in columns and summarisation of % complete gets screwed up unless you use cost.

Thats correct actually,

But i have never done that, may be bcoz i m used to BQ.

Global changes can be used in either case, but the only thing is you can have limited eight custom data items for each activity.

Hi Anand,

You can use multiple resources in P3, I normally prefer using resources (Manhours) in resources, while for quantities I use Custom data item. This gives flexibility as far as global changes & reports are concerned.

Ravi,

Any limitations/drawbacks on this set up.

Dear Sir,

Does it mean, i have a

1. Resource - "Manhour" were i enter Budgeted qty and completed to date

2. Resource - "Tray" were i enter Tray Qty in Mtrs

3. Resource - "Tray Support" were i enter Qty in Tons

and assign the resource related to each activity.

I will try.

Thanks

Yup dominic,

In the RESOURCE tab, you have BUDGETED QUANTITY (BQ) to put in the planned quantities, and in ACTUAL TO DATE, you can have actual quantities till date.

You can use Global change to have this quantified resources for each activity.

Hope I am clear!!
