Resource Histogram finishes early. ?

I had the similar problem before. In order to trace where the error you can follow the step in the following:

1. Remove your target project and regen the histogram

2. If the histogram become normal then your target plan budget need to change

3. Compare the report histogram with the layout histogram

4. If they are still different after removing your target plan then the current project budget / remaining unit is the place that you need to correct.

Because P3 histogram layout uses different budget compare to the report histogram

Good Luck

All,

Success. I checked the timescale and I had the end date set as FD + 1 month but the finish date was showing April 2009 (with the extra month giving me May 2009).

Once I changed this to the proper late date it all worked great. Not being a P3 user (trained and work on P5) made this a learning experience.

Thanks for all the posts.

Keep Planning...

check also the end dates in your schedule and whether the distribution of resources is built on the early or late finish dates.

Your issue sounds a bit tricky. Here are a couple of suggestions:

1) Are you using resource durations that are different (shorter) than the task duration?

2) Are you using an exotic activity type? (i.e. other than task?) and or Driving Resources?

As a troubleshooting trick, change the histogram options (in your layout) to only profile the selected tasks and then only pick on task and see if you can make adjustments to narrow down what is causing the strange profile. (You might enven want to just add a test task to see if it repeats.)

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies.

I have checked the Calendars and resource allocation and all is good so I should be showing resources right up to the end of the activities.

Still can’t work out why my resources suddently stop when my activities, with resources assigned and linear distribution, keep going.

cheers,

Kevin.

or have you really allocated resources up the end, check also the distributions; is it on average; peak or total?

Hi Kev,

Have you checked the resource calendars...

Just a guess, may be they are different and have non-working month where the resorces are not shown.
