Thanks Ferdi, it did improve the schedule, % Complete are now showing figures.
I am trying to re-update this schedule, correcting the logic for started activities with out of sequence links. It seems to be the contributor to the progress bar behaviour.
If you take a look at the Autocost rules. There is a box that links the RD and Pct. If that box is unchecked then P3 expects you to input the pct complete AND update the RD.
If you check that box and calc the schedule. Ensure that the Autocost rules will be applied when you calc and that should fix your Pct complete issue.
I would also sugest changing the Schedule Options back to retailed logic so that you dont bypass out of sequence logic.

first of all I would like to tell you that im not a primavera representative! however, considering that this is free! and i believe open! let me try...
out-of-sequence activities: (please note that this is my personal definition) - activities that have progressed disregarding the originally defined relationships. Im not really sure if it affects the colors of your bars, just try to play with it!
another thing is, when youre formatting your bars - go to format bars; Display progress and criticality on Target Bar based on: Current Project or Target Project; you have to chose one!
by the way, are you working on a Current Project with a Target?
That what I have here, the column %Complete turns 100 once activities are updated as done but does not shows any %complete when activites are still in progress.
I was thinking that if it is a bug that P3 has or any setting I need to adjust to achieve the desired results.
I have tried updating default sample projects and have the same results.

I can undersatnd the 1st case as when we update manually it happens. But for the item 2 it sounds impossible. Check the coulmn I suspect you have Custum data item in it and not the default percent complete.

Yes, I am working on a project with a Target.
The out of sequence activities seems to play a part for the progress bar problem, but could anyone confirm if it also affects the % Complete column.
Though, the progress override solves the progress bar problem, the resulting schedule cant be used since it bypasses all the built-in logic.
I have heard of P3Fix software, have anyone here used it? and Do you think it will solve the problem that I have?

to answer progress is going beyond due to out of sequence logic. This can be solve using progress override.
2nd thing %comp figure not appearing in the column is really a bug.....try to reboot your PC.....

Duration is the weighting factor i am using.
Tell me more about out of sequence activities. Doest it affect the progress bar. How about the % Complete column?
Member for

dont forget also to chose Duration as your weighting factor, go to tools; options; summarization; check duration
also check the activities that are out of sequence.

I am using retained logic.
Not all progress bar are behaving this way (progress bar going beyond data date).
I am putting actual start date on activities that had started and adjusting the remaining duration for activities in progress.
Member for

Are you inputing the actual date started or just changing the remaining duration?
Member for

Sometimes when my bars are not behaving correctly it is because I have not correctly input the SCHEDULE/LEVEL Calculation Options.
It can make a difference if RETAINED LOGIC is selected rather than PROGRESS OVERRIDE. I normally operate with PROGRESS OVERRIDE checked off.

There are two things.
1 . The progress bar is going ahead of data date.
2. The progress is not shown in % compl column.

i have tried this solution so many times but does not work.

Hi,
Dont assume that calculates the % complete based on the actual and remaining duration.
Set it TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> AUTO COST RULES, Cross the box for LINK REMAINING DURATION AND SCHEDULE PERCENT COMPLETE.
You may have to re-update the progress and scehedule by F9, hopefully your problem will be solved.
