When you have setup all the groupings, columns, filters and fonts you want save it as a layout. This way you can reopen your layout again without having to go through all that again. A Snapshot is a way of saving all your groups and sortings so that you can save time not having to reorder or filter your project thus saving you time. An "SS" is displayed on the left of the Layouts name.
