It is Microsoft Window problem. Up to now, folder name and filename is better to have max length of 8 characters (without special character use). Window allows input longer by creating a image to store your input for display, the system will self generate a 8-characters one for system identification.
If you have a series of files with first 8 characters are the same, Window will create the following ’name’
- AAAAAA~1;
- AAAAAA~2;
- AAAAAA~3;
- AAAAAB~1;
- AAAAAB~2; etc

if u want to use more than 8 characters and unable to recognize what is after ~1........, use windows explorer to locate your p3 files directory and double click any one of the p3 files in the directory, you will be prompted to enter username and password, enter your user name/pwd so that the project will be opened in p3 application. (Remember the P3 Application should not be in open mode before clicking the above file from windows explorer)
If your foldername is more than 8 characters, P3 will display first 6 characters as it is, the remaining characters will be displayed as ~1. so nothing to worry.
