I confirm Paul Harriss post: it is definetely NOT possible to hide the 1st part of the outline code or of the group name; you cannot display: for instance if you group tasks on priority level, you cannot hide "priority:"

This is an oldish thread, I was wondering if there have been any developments on this issue? Service Pack perhaps (he says hopefully)?
Ive just been "upgraded" from 2003 to 2007 but after two days of trying to make it work Im now thinking about going back. Previously my hierarchical outline coding worked beautifully, now code Values are displayed instead of Descriptions, and the groupings dont work at all.
Ive replicated my hierarchical structure with individual codes which has sorted out the grouping issue, but it makes little difference because the descriptions still cant be seen!
Next step is to make the "Value" the "Description".
Long time Primavera user now suffering with Project. Ah, the good old days....

thanks, but im using msp 07 and outline code name appears to the left of the grouped outline with a separator :, values appears and not description.. or am i missing an option tick here?
thanx but what i mean is to hide that part.. it keeps on showing like that, say i rename the O code 1 as PHASE, then values include ENGINEERING,RCC WORKS, etc. then after grouping, it will show PHASE:ENGINEERING, PHASE:RCC WORKS.. what i want is to hide "PHASE:".. and i notice also that it will be in alphabetical order sequence, how can i patterned it as defined, say ENGINEERING, then RCC WORKS, then MEP Works, etc.

Sorry Pinan
I mis-understood and I typed without checking.
I should of also clarified that I am using MSP 2003.
Testing the situation, when I use the outline code - this does not give the name at the start (it only does that if I use Text1)
Try below -
Tools / customise / fields
Select ouline code 1
Click edit lookup table
Then if I type 1 etc in the outline code and to the right the desciption :-
1 Engineering
2 RCC Works
3 MEP works
Does this give what you want
An alternative is to name the value "1) Engineering" etc
