It sounds like you achieved your overall objective, but in a different way to that which I guided you. Im sure you appreciate that by typing in "Fred Bloggs - Manager" and "Fred Bloggs - Designer", they are acting as completely separate resources. In principle this is fine, but you will have to be a little careful when doing the resource profiling, and remember that they are one & the same. If you are resource levelling, the system will seem them as separate and will run their tasks in parallel.
Cheers.

I think I got it, MSP got "mixed up" cuz i put the same initials on the person with the different positions. Problem fixed by putting different initials i.e. the persons initals then the respective positions, or something of that sort.

When youve entered different rates for a resource in cost rate tables, you can change the resource rate on a task assignment by applying a different cost rate table.
2 In the Task Name field, select a resource assignment.
If resource assignments are hidden, click the outline symbol of the task to display them.
Do you want to display cost rate tables on screen?
Yes
No
Not sure which choice you want?
On the Insert menu, click Column.
In the Field Name box, click Cost Rate Table, and then click OK.
In the Cost Rate Table field, click the table that contains the rate you want to apply.
Click Assignment Information and then click the General tab.
In the Cost Rate Table box, click the table that contains the rate you want to apply.
Yes if you want to select different cost rate tables directly in the Task Usage view to make rate changes to many resource assignments regularly.
No if you only plan to make rate changes to a few resource assignments from time to time and wont need to have the rate tables displayed in the Task Usage view.
Basically, you have to go into the Task Usage screen, click on the resource name associated with that particular task, then you need to populate Cost Tables, A, B, C, and inpute whatever rate you would like. There are five tables overall. The default table is "A". When double-clicking the resource name, you get the options of applying whichever table you so desire.

Lesson learned, my friend!
