Hi there,

IMHO, you can simply show the impact by attaching a calendar printed in A0 size into your schedule.....

Hi Ali,

This is my suggestion, There is two method to show delivery of material...

1. Delivery of Material / Equipment drive the Project(Fabrication / Erection /Installation)

2. Project drive the material / Equipment means when your schedule already prepared u have to be stubborn to make delivery as per your schedule. It can be done but u have to prepare with proof that the equipment can be delivery before inpection and ready for fabrication / erection / installation.

I prefer no 2 method It can be done but have get the time manufacturing and delivery correctly.

On behalf of Ali, I say thanks guys.

I do need to know how the experts tackle the situation in other parts of the world. This kind of situation always happen in projects.

At least PP peers can count on your wisdom.

Cheers,

I agree with Charlie.

It is useful to show delays as the special activities.

I would recommend to create hammock activities that last from the dates of the planned deliveries to the dates of the actual deliveries. Hammock activities that are usual in other PM software can be created in MS Project but in special way. Inform me if there is a need to explain how.

All activities that reflect client activities delays shall be grouped in a special phase to be used in claim assessments.

Hello Ali,

First i have to let you know im have no prior work experience in Russia (with love as the song and movie goes).

So may reply to your thread may not have any relevance to Russia.

On the other hand i did work in Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines.

In one experience, i added new activities to show the time it took the material procure by the client to arrive at site. Oh, the client was upset because they dont want to reflect in the current schedule that they caused the delay. Only Divine intervention save me from being kicked out from the project site.

In other experience, my claim specialist colleagues insisted to add activities that cause delays due to client action or inaction. The reason was, as per my colleagues in to tell the client "hey Mr Client your action or inaction cause activities to start late as planned. In this regard, Mr. Client you have to grant us extension of time".

You can have another choice. You will extend the procurement/delivery of materials to show actual start date and actual finish date. Then connect activity B to start after Actual Start of Act A.

Or you can add a milestone in the Actual finish date in the procurement/delivery of materials. Then, you connect the start of Act B to Actual finish of milestone.

I wish Vladimir will help you with this since he did got a lot of experience in Russia.

Cheers and hope for the best from your PP peers in Russia.

Hello Ali,

What stage are you into? You are updating current project schedule or you are preparing impacted schedule for claim purposes.

Please tell PP the purpose.

Regards,

Charlie
