PRIMAVERA P3

Carmen,

I beg your pardon Miss, but I cannot agree with you saying P3 will soon be off the market; just ask any Primavera Autorized Parner the question how difficult they have persuading customers switching from P3 to PM6.

In the whole world, P3 is regarded as much more fitted for standalone planners working in a no network environnement, such as public works, oil and gas work sites in Africa.

In France too, the market share is much more toward P3 than its successors.

What is true is: P3 has an old-looking user interface, it takes MS Excel or Lotus 123 to enter large amounts of tasks and data, ... PM5/6 is much more modern looking

Because P3 users do not want to switch and keep purchasing P3 boxes, Primavera Corp dramatically changed P3 prices last year, going up from 3000 to 5000 US$ a piece.

As far as I am concerned, I like both products, I reckon PM6 is easier to work fast than P3, but should I take one on remote island, it would be P3

Long live Primavera scheduling tools, whatever they are

Urbicio,

do not loose your time with P3. I will be OFF the market very soon. Instead, learn P5 or P6.

Cheers,

basically, you need to be a builder or a fabricator (knowing the activities), then a bean counter or a quantity surveyor(for cost cutting and value engineering), then a cost engineer or a contracts administrator for contractual matters, btw, you need to understand deeply the procurement process, because the long-lead items have a very large impact with regards to schedule, then i suggest you take a training from a qualified trainor to understand how the software works
