Yes you're right, in P6 you can create steps on each activity that serves as a more detailed breakdown of that particular activity, but they doesn't rolls up the progress of that activity and only reflects on Physical % Complete.
The reason why I'm asking this is because we have a client/customer that is receiving P6 data with some activities with steps and they will open this in Asta but they can't see the activity steps. If they will create multiple tasks per line, then it will take much of their time to identify which activities that has steps from P6.
I hope in future developments of Asta Powerproject it could address this concern, that it can already capture the activity steps from P6.
Thank you very much! Appreciated a lot your response.
We've not heard about activity steps before but have now done some research. I understand that you can create a set of steps in P6 and assign them to an activity, which you can then tick off? But ticking these steps off does not mark progress on the task..?
Unfortunately, we don't have any equivalent in Asta - we would use progress to mark tasks as complete. A better way of representing steps in Asta would be by splitting the task, using multiple tasks per line.
I also understand that you have asked this question directly to your local distributor of Asta Powerproject so they will no doubt be coming back to you shortly with the same response! They are also the quickest route for direct technical questions as we don't always check these forums every day.
