The biggest advantages of ASTA you can assign cost to activities without creating Resource. If you have your subcontractor you can create cost under library and model it in three types. (TIME BASE COST, FIX COST or UNIT COST).
Go to library create to costs and assign it.
I attached here picture with both example. Design A is cost assing to Summary Level (like WBS), Second is detail to activity. Both way possible. if you not solve your problem, contact with me I will send you some detail documents.
