Originally employed as Quality Engineer. As Quality Engineer I was totally responsible for the planning, setting up & commissioning of all aspects of Quality & Quality Equipment. Also I was the Project Engineer for Induction Hardening & Heat Treatment. The plant currently has a turnover of £12 million and a contract value of £50 million over 5 years.
The initial objective to commence production in Dec. 93 was achieved on time and within the agreed cost structure and the plant is now meeting all objectives and targets.
My responsibilities as a Quality Engineer have included :
- The selection, justification and procurement of over £125 thousand of quality equipment.
- Hired a portion of the 65 direct operatives.
- Installed & programmed an un-manned CMM Package, to enable effective quality control of the F.M.S. System, with minimal skill requirements.
- Installed & implemented a full quality plan on spur & helical gear manufacture.
- Set up Induction hardening & heat treatment cell.
- Installation & integration of SPC into the production environment.
After the initial set-up had been completed I was promoted to Production Supervisor.
My responsibilities as a Production Supervisor have included :
- Introduction of an integrated computer system including MRP II & Kanban system.
- Scheduling of all work through production.
- Organising training and use of a continuos improvement program.
- Co-ordinating shipments of finished products throughout the world markets.
- Responsible for all matters of supervision throughout the site.
- Management of constraints.
- Maintained build program requirements, thus achieving profitability through a difficult start up procedure.
- Integrated a new product line into plant, thus increasing sales revenue by £2 million
