I worked as the LSTK EPC contractor for construction of LNG Train in Damietta, Egypt. Project was a JV of KBR, JGC, Tecnicas Reunidas, and M.W. Kellogg. This project was extremely schedule driven, and the challenge was to reduce project costs without impacting the overall progress. I did this through rigorous change management, detailed cost control down to WBS+5 level, and a very indepth manpower plan to ensure the right mix of talent stayed on the project.
Working in the home office, I provided cost control and subcontractor management support to the construction department of the home office. During this period, in addition to cost control functions such as budget preparation and cost estimating, I also performed quantity surveying, preparing BoQ from measurements on site drawings to prepare applications for payments, Subcontractor management including drafting and award of subcontracts, and directly supervising several subcontracts for projects under execution. Working as EPC contractor for an onshore brownfield revamping project that included a new Diesel Hydro Processing unit (DHP), Amine Regeneration Unit (ARU), Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU), Sour Water Unit (SWU), and 2 new Cooling Towers- one chemical and one natural draft. Additionally, an intense brownfield upgrade of the existing steam generation boilers, new turbo-generators, installation of new control room, and tie-in into existing operating plant.
