Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

our plant works in two shifts , 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM ( with break at 12:00 to 1:00 PM ) and 2nd shift from 6:00 PM to Next day 6:00 AM ( with break from 12:00 to 1:00 AM )

Can someone tell me how to enter these timing in " change project timing " window. Because if i enter these timing it gives the message as "end time has to be later than start time."

Hi,
For the time format,it’s controled by windows.
try ’control panel’-> ’date and time’ to change the setting

Hi zhang ,

now i got it . I put timing as 1:00 AM to 12:00 PM . 1:00 PM to 11:59 PM.

This time it worked .

now one more question , why my computer is not accepting time in format of eg 18:00 hrs or 20:00 hrs . it is automatically changing to 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM.

Any suggestion on that , as to how to change it ?

Hi Zhang ,

Thanks for the insight , that MSP is actually dealing for one day . Now i understand.

But isnt there some other way , to club those timing in one calander so as to reflect actualy way that our plant is working.

I tried putting 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM , 6:00 AM to 12:00PM , 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM , 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM . But still it didnt work . i guess i will have to split into two as you suggested.

thanks,

Hi,
in this dialog box, the time is only for one day (0:00 to 24:00).
the time you input spans two days (e.g. day 16AUG is selected but the time you input start 16AUG 6:00 am end 17AUG 6:00am)
How can MSP deal with it.

it seems that you are using only one calendar (standard) for this two shifts. It does not make sense, because you can not assign that some activities is night shift, others day shift.
these is no difference to one shift 22hours/day.

I suggest you creat two calendars one for day shift, one for night shift. and input time as mentioned in my previous post

Hi ,

In change working time Dialog Box For Standard (project calander) If i put my input as 6:00AM to 12:00PM , 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM , 6:00 PM to 12:00AM , 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM.

I am getting message as "start of shift must be later than end of previous shift"

AS per above timing our plant works , why am i unable to change as per above format.

Hi,

day shift :
from 6:00 to 12:00
13:00 to 18:00

night shift:
from 1:00 to 6:00
18:00 to 0:00

suppose you are using one calendar for day shift and another for night shift

in the option-> calendar, change hours per day to 11
