Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

The feature to split task in MSP does not exist in Primavera. You have to go by adding several activities...

Horlen,

Not sure about P5 as I can not rememeber but in P6 in the activity form you can use suspend option to break an activity but only for once. It might be the same in P5.

For more breaks, I’m afraid you will need to add multiple activities.

HIH,
Cheers.

Horlen,
In a nutshell, what you can do is create ’Steps’ within the activity in question giving weights to each step proportionate to the effort required of the total budget.

Or if you need to divide the activity into discrete parts so that you can either add logic or divide the costs up, you will need to create ’New’ seperate tasks and budget them accordingly, (rebasline those activities if your baseline is at that level too)

My thoughts
