I’ve noticed the code libraries include a sort order field. I exported my P3 schedule to Power Project in order to learn PP. The contract view all stakeholders are used to, displays milestones at the top, under a "milestones" heading, then some excavation works then heavy civils and construction roads at the bottom, each under its own heading. I tried to sort them in the same way they were sorted in P3, but PP seems to sort them alphabetically. How can I override the alphabetical order of the code libraries to sort the sub headings in the way they were signed in the contract?

Thanks for the replies Mike!

I found another way to make it:
tools > options... > view > sort code libraries.

The default is "by name", I choose "By sort order", then fill the sort order field in the library explorer. That gets me to the same sort order as P3’s

I could not get the view the way you suggested, maybe I did not explain clearly what I was trying to do.

Hi Carlos

You do not copy paste the code library - you copy paste the task descriptions.

Then add the line numbers from P3 and do a =vlookup on the Powerproject side.

You will find the User Field Manager under the Tools drop down.

Save the file first and make sure that you set the User Level under the Help Drop Down to Advanced.

This may sound stupid but I don’t seem to find how to copy/paste code library definitions from PP. While I investigate it, can you explain me how do I sort the grouping according to a field?

I’m trying to achieve the exact same sort order in PP that I use in Primavera. Why? Because thet will help me learn how to configure the views in any way that is needed. That will also show me the limits and differences between PP and P3.

I think I need to explain it better what i’m trying to achieve. The next image is the contractual view in P3:

in P3, Headings are grouped according to the activity code Value, descending.

One simple way would be to set up a spreadsheet

Copy and paste the P3 descriptions in column A and a list of numbers representing the line numbers of the P3 programme in Columnn B.

In column C copy paste your PowerProject descriptions and in column D do a =vlookup formula to align the P3 line number to PwerProjct descriptions.

In powerprojec set up a user field column and copy paste the line numbers into it.

Then sort ascending on the user field.

Save the view as P3 Sort.
