The relationship between both subjects confuses me.
When I search the internet for the term "critical mass", specifically within turnarounds, I find almost nothing except the definition and that you should observe this so it does not become a problem for your turnaround.
As I understand it, critical mass items are in the beginning not on the critical path (have a lot of float), but due to the quantity of these items and your average work pace, they can become a problem when you do not closely follow them.
My questions:
- is the term "critical mass" as important during a turnaround as the critical path ?
- does software llike Primavera P6 or others automatically take the critical mass into account with some sort of report or trend lines ?
- is there a best practice to cope with the critical mass concept during a turnaround ?
