I have one project with with 5 portions, each portions has different completion date (ex. portion 2 finish after 60 days of portion 1 finish) and LD.

When making schedule the portion 5 only showing in critical path.

How to show critical path for each portions in single schedule.

Kannan,
I suggest use an Enterprise Project.
One project per portion and open on Enterprise level with inter-project relationship. In this setup you will have critical path on each portion and track as one.

Dear Kannan,

If you have 1 Contract, then you need to make 1 Program of Works.

Now it is a matter of modeling.

Of course you will get critical path on portions 2-5;
Example:
Start - portion 1 - Finish
Start - portion 2 - Finish
Start - portion 3 - Finish
Start - portion 4 - portion 5- Finish

You need to check the relationships.

With kind regards,

Dear Samer,

Thanks for your reply, my problem is each portions has its own critical path.

When i make one finish mile stone in each portion, the successor of each portion finish is the project finish (ie portion 5 finish), in that case i will not get any critical path on portion 1 to portion 4.

And also note that the start of portion 2 to portion 5 can be any date after start of portion 1, but different contractual end date.

Dear Kannan,

Maybe it would be a good idea to use Milestones in this case. A Milestone is an activity with zero duration and zero resource.

So you would make your plan and at the end of each portion you will add an activity called "End Portion No". In this case you will have one program of works with the 5 portions you want. And when you run the Schedule, the critical path will be calculated including the 5 portions.

Wtih kind regards,

Samer
