Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear Moutaz,

"Invalid Milestone relationship" happens when you change the Activity type (i.e. from Finish milestone to Start milestone or vice versa) and relationship type is already assigned prior the change.

Note:

1.)For Start Milestone relationship should be SS&FS for predecessor and SS,FS&SF for successor.
2.)For Finish Milestone relationship should be FF,FS&SF for predecessor and FF&FS for successor.

Regards,
Joel

Dear Moutaz

maybe there is a loop (cycle) in project network. consider 4 activities with following relations:
-------------------------
predecessor----->activity
-------------------------
e--------------->b
b--------------->c
c--------------->d
d-------------->e

if so,it’s likey to get an error message. i don’t know if PM alows entering such relations or not, but "check integrity" and make sure there’s no cycle.

Regard,
Abed

Moustaz,
The best way to trace the error is by running Check Project Integrity.

Select Tools-> Check Project Integrity
Tick Automatically fix correctable errors and tick Log to file
Click … buttons and enter destination directory and filename (default: CHKDATA.TXT)
Click Check and when finished click View Log. It will show all the error found on your schedule and you can easily trace & fix the cause.

Dear Rodel,

It is not imported from other software, but the open end activities are too much.

Moutaz,
Is this schedule import from other software (i.e. MS Project)? Check the predecessor and successor, it maybe link to WBS summary activity.
