Hi:

When I update the data date in my P3 schedule, My steps as follows:

1. update all activities weekly

2. update data date weekly

3. schedule

Problems:

The early finish dates (already actual started activities) also prolong one week after I updated the data date. And the early finish dates is later than data date. I think these acutal status activities should not move when I update the data date.  So that I need come back, and carefully check the started activities. And update the changed activities.

Any one knows what problems I have made?

Thanks for your help!

Ji wei,

Go to Tools, then option and then click auto cost rules. In that check the first box i.e. Link remaining duration and schedule remaining duration.

ji wei,

I am not sure that you've stated you problem completely, but if you are saying that activities in progress, those with an actual start and a remaining duration are bumping out further from the data date than just their remaining duration, the I assume that you are working with retained logic (which is always the correct mode), and it is likely that the task that this is happening to have a predecessor (or a predecessor of a predecessor, etc.) that is not yet complete.  In other words work is being performed out of sequence.

Check the predecessors and make sure that have all started and finished, then check their predecessors, etc. until you find the one that is does not have an actual finish and remove as a predecessor.  Then rerun you schedule calcs and that should take care of it.

Let me know if I didn't understand you problem correctly.
