Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I am trying to import a P3 project into P5. It will not let me import. I get the message
"An application event has been intercepted. Please note the even code for reference. Event Code VDBPI-4001-0"

So I go to P330XERCONVERT.exe to convert from .P3 to .XER and when I indicated the folder that my project is in it tells me the file is not found.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Beth

Check for the access rights. "Everyone" must have read/write access.

Good luck

Dieter,

Thank you for your suggestion. When I tried it this is the error message I received:
"unable to open project SPEC in directory c:\P3IMP"
Anything else I can try? I removed exclusive and changed it to multi-user. I called Primavera but I could not get through. Any help is greatly appreciated. Beth

A reason might be that the path is too long. Move the project onto a higher level - e.g. create a directory "C:\P3imp", move all files which start with the 4-character P3 project name into this directory and start the import again.
The import uses parts of P3. The longest path entry was 64 characters as far as I remember.
Good luck
Dieter
