Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

My work follows a standard series of Activities for each project. I copy activities to create new ones, but I need to change the Client name on each activity. Is there a way of doing this across all the activities at the same time ?

Thanks Paul for this information. Its a useful tool and will allow me as you say to slip in extra projects into my plan as and when I need to.

Hi Terry,

Have you tried using fragnets? There is a text replace function when you "retrieve" a fragnet which will let you replace a placeholder in the activity description with any text you wish.

An easy way to update activity codes is to add the activity code column to your layout, enter the code in the first activity and then use Edit, "fill cell" to update the others.

Paul

Hi Terry,

P3 has no capability of changing activity codes by selecting all activities like MSProject. The easiest way is to have a unique identification on your Activity ID so you can have a reference when you change it globally or export your activities into dbf or wk1 format which ever you’re preferred to use and open to excel program change it from their, then export it back to P3. An alternative way is using RA excel utilities that you can found in your P3 installation disk. If you need a copy, gave me your email address so I can email it to you.

Rodel

Thanks Rodel

I’ve worked out how to copy a series of Activities across, but when it comes to changing the Resp field, is there a way of selecting all the lines to be changed to a different person rather than doing each individual line ?

Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry,

There are so many ways of doing it. You can use global change, export/import utilities and RA excels Utilities which all will do a good job for you. It all depends on which you are comfortable with.
