I face a problem as follows:
I am demonstrating the problem through a sample network of 2 activities linked finish to start and both of original duration of 6d
The Project and Activity Calender is following a 6 days Work Week, 8 hours Work per day 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM
Activity % Complete type set to duration % for both activities
Activity 1 before update
Planned Early Start - 17 Jan 12, 08:00 AM
Planned Early Finish - 23 Jan 12, 04:00 PM
Activity 2 before update
Planned Early Start - 24 Jan 12, 08:00 AM
Planned Early Finish - 30 Jan 12, 04:00 PM
Snapshot prior to update
After update with Data date 19 Jan 12, 08:00 AM and actual s entered for only activity 1
Activity 1
Actual Start 17 Jan 12, 08:00 AM, % Complete = 20%
based on duration % complete, Remaining Duration was calculated as 4.8d for activity 1, early finish, 24 Jan 12, 02:24 PM
Activity 2
Early Start after update, 24 Jan 12, 02:24 PM
Early Finish after update, 31 Jan 12, 02:24 PM
Snapshot after update
Question
Based on the 8 hours per day setting, P6 calculated the early start of activity 2 on the same day as activity 1 after update.
How can we avoid remaining duration in fractions without going for physical % complete type and avoid start of 2nd activity on same day?
